Hi Reader, I’ve been a bit quiet the past couple of weeks. Buried in tests and assignments, with two more tests, a final exam, and a presentation remaining, I can finally see the finish line of the classroom portion of my MBA journey. In the meantime, there has been plenty of time to reflect. So… not the most exciting stories to share these past weeks 🤣 But a conversation at dinner a few days ago has really stayed with me. We were having dinner with friends in their 70s. Avid sailors and incredibly active people, she even goes cold plunging every single day. At some point, the conversation shifted to that moment in life when it really hits you that there is less time ahead than behind. I remember being in my 20s and thinking people in their 50s were ancient. (My apologies 😬) Now that I’m in my 50s, 70 still feels far away. But at the same time... not really. For our friends, 70 was a turning point. Especially after she unexpectedly had two heart attacks, back-to-back. Doctors can’t find anything wrong; they say she’s in perfect condition. But because of that uncertainty, they advised her to take it easy and keep her heart rate under 110 and then see how it will go 🫣 But something shifted for her. She shared a moment that really stuck with me. She was in a store buying her moisturizing cream when she saw that it was on promotion: buy one, get the second at 50% off. And she paused…wondering if she would even still be around to use the second jar. Her husband shared a similar story. He was buying scotch tape, choosing between one roll and a cheaper pack of three. And the thought crossed his mind: the tape will probably outlive me. Trust me, you could hear a pin drop when they shared their experiences. I’m sure everyone experiences aging differently. But that conversation made me realize that I’m now in a stage of life where I say YES to the things I love, and NO to what doesn’t serve me. To trust my gut feeling a bit more. And maybe most importantly, I bumped up taking care of my health right to the top of my to-do list. Not someday. Now. Because sometimes it’s not about big, dramatic changes. It’s about becoming a little more intentional with the time we have. Chat next week, Peggy 🌿 P.S. What would you say yes to more often… if you really thought about your time differently? View in browser Hi Reader, Last Sunday, we went sailing for the first time of the season. And let me tell you… It is not just about raising the sail and sitting back to enjoy. You don't just hop on a boat, point it where you want to go, and ride the breeze. (At least, not if you actually want to get somewhere 😅) You're constantly adjusting. Reading the wind. Trimming the sails. Tacking left, tacking right. Watching what's coming and shifting before it hits. Sailing, it turns out, is one long...
View in browser Hi Reader, Sometimes you just want to change the speed of time. You know exactly what I mean. You're watching a webinar, and you bump it up to 1.5x. Maybe you even push it to 2x, slap on the subtitles… and then realize you have no clue what's being said, so you slide it back down to 1.5x again 😅 I'm pretty sure people have done that to me when they're trying to digest what I share in my programs. And there I am on the other side, trying my best to speak slowly 🤪 Anyway… These...
View in browser Hi Reader, Last week we went to explore the west coast of Vancouver Island. And of course… we ended up at Mystic Beach. The sign at the start of the trail said: 2 km.No big deal, right? 😏 Well… let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a paved Sunday stroll. The trail was filled with tree roots, old wooden platforms, deep mud, and some pretty steep sections, both up and down. At one point, I felt like a kid again in PE class playing “the floor is lava.” Only this time… the floor was...
