Hi Reader, Last Sunday, we went sailing for the first time of the season. And let me tell you… It is not just about raising the sail and sitting back to enjoy. You don't just hop on a boat, point it where you want to go, and ride the breeze. (At least, not if you actually want to get somewhere 😅) You're constantly adjusting. Reading the wind. Trimming the sails. Tacking left, tacking right. Watching what's coming and shifting before it hits. Sailing, it turns out, is one long act of recalibration. And funny enough… earlier in the week, life had asked me to do exactly the same thing. Something happened that didn't align with my values. You know the feeling, right? When something is off, and your whole body knows it before your brain catches up? For me, it's almost like a "man overboard!" alarm goes off. Mind, body, gut, all sounding the bell at once 🚨 I'm someone who follows her intuition pretty quickly. Maybe too quickly, some would say. They might tell me to stick it out longer before jumping to conclusions. But here's what I've learned the hard way: The times I ignored those signals? Oh… the consequences were rough. No easy fixes. Just lessons that took years to clean up. So this time, I knew exactly what to do. I shared what I was feeling. I gave myself time to separate the emotion from the situation. And then I built a plan that actually aligned with who I am, where I am in this stage of life and how do we keep this in balance for everyone involved? Through it all, two things kept me steady: knowing I had the unwavering support of my better half and giving myself permission to process it outside, in nature. This time, on my bicycle 🚴♀️ And once those steps were taken… something shifted. The cogwheels clicked back into place. Everything started running smoothly again (at least for now). Maybe that's the lesson sailing was trying to teach me all along. Sometimes the wind shifts. Sometimes life nudges you off course. You don't abandon ship. You don't pretend nothing's wrong. You trim the sails, recalibrate, and keep steering toward where you really want to go. Chat next week, Peggy 🌿 P.S. When was the last time you followed your intuition? View in browser Hi Reader, My morning routine is religious to me. Before I get pulled in a hundred directions, before the day takes over, before the emails start lining up… I take time for myself. A little yoga. Meditation. Some reading. Journaling. Three mornings a week, the gym. A short walk after. (Yes, before you ask. I get up really early 😅) I learned a long time ago that if I don't do these things first thing, I just don't get around to them. The day eats them. So I protect that window....
View in browser Hi Reader, Last Saturday, I joined the brand new Beban Parkrun here in Nanaimo for the first time. I'm not new to Parkrun. We used to go regularly when we lived in South Africa, and I still have some lovely memories from those mornings 🏃♀️ This is me 👇🏼, 10 years ago with Wis (the then pup of very close friends of mine), you can tell from my red face this picture was taken after the Parkrun 😆 But this time was a little different. I'm slowly getting back to jogging after...
View in browser Hi Reader, Last week, I shared the story of my old bicycle and how a quick visit to the bike shop turned my sweaty 40-minute commute into a smooth 26-minute one. But something else happened that I really didn't see coming. Honestly, the reason I decided to cycle to the Chamber of Commerce wasn't profound. It was practical. I knew that if I didn't build movement into my day, I simply… wouldn't. (Anyone else? 😅) So cycling became my one-hour daily guarantee. But what surprised...
