The calm that comes from good planning 🧘🏽‍♀️

Hi Reader,

Vancouver Island University recently hosted the BC MBA Games 2025, and the energy was incredible.

Hundreds of MBA students from across the province came together to compete, collaborate, and connect.

I had the privilege of being part of the organizing committee, a group that worked quietly behind the scenes for months to make it all happen.

It was inspiring to be there, to feel the buzz of so many driven students, but it also reminded me of something that reaches far beyond events like this:

👉 The importance of good planning.

Because when you’re part of a team this size - with 5 different universities, more than 20 judges, prominent guests, sponsors, and volunteers all depending on each other - every detail matters.

Planning isn’t just logistics. It’s leadership.

When one person is late, it doesn’t just affect the timeline.

It affects everyone else who’s trying to stay on course.

It’s a ripple effect, one I’ve often seen in group projects, business teams, and even personal goals.

This experience also made me reflect on another team I’ve been part of for the past ten months, our Meta Team (also known as the Frontrunners). We’ve worked closely on assignments, presentations, and strategy, and what has made our collaboration succeed and ace it isn’t luck; it’s planning.

There’s no micromanaging.

No last-minute chaos.

Just trust, communication, and structure.

That’s where the magic happens.

For the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing stories and reflections on planning, procrastination, and shifting your mindset, so you can approach your goals with clarity, confidence, and calm.

Because doing things last-minute might give you a quick adrenaline rush…

However, intentional planning provides long-term peace of mind.

Sending you fall greetings from Canada 🍁

P.S. If you’ve been operating in “last-minute mode” lately, maybe this is your sign to slow down and plan differently. It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be intentional. View in browser Hi Reader, Last week I spent a week skiing in Whistler, yes, I (we) had a wonderful time, and I was even in the Olympic Spirit 😊 ⛷️ And it reminded me of something I hadn’t thought about in a while: the joy of being a beginner again. Besides the two days of skiing last year, the last time I went skiing for a whole week was in 2014 😅 Over the past year, I’ve been embracing that beginner mindset a lot, mostly thanks to my MBA journey. When you’re learning constantly, you’re...

View in browser Hi Reader, A short and sweet note this week, I’m off to Whistler for a week of skiing ❄️⛷️ But, I wanted to share this little story with you... Last week, while sitting in a waiting room (one of those unexpected pockets of time), I decided to make the most of it and catch up with a few friends. And then I noticed something. I was texting people in Belgium, South Africa, USA, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Australia and yes, in Canada as well 😅 My gosh! In my MBA cohort alone, my...

View in browser Hi Reader, Last week I had a not-so-nice reminder about something I talk about all the time: The importance of clarity. I had an upcoming quiz in my MBA program, and, wanting to prepare properly (hey, you know me 😏), I reached out twice to clarify exactly what we were expected to study. No response. Crickets. I went into the quiz thinking I had prepared for what was required… and walked out feeling frustrated and honestly a bit angry. Because what I thought we had to study...
