Clarity Takes 30 Seconds 💡

Hi Reader,

Last week I had a not-so-nice reminder about something I talk about all the time:

The importance of clarity.

I had an upcoming quiz in my MBA program, and, wanting to prepare properly (hey, you know me 😏), I reached out twice to clarify exactly what we were expected to study.

No response. Crickets.

I went into the quiz thinking I had prepared for what was required… and walked out feeling frustrated and honestly a bit angry.

Because what I thought we had to study turned out to be only half of what was covered.

Now, this isn’t about blame.
It’s not about how things could have been handled differently.

It’s about this simple truth:

Clarity and proper communication are crucial in everything you do.

And sometimes, clarity can literally be created in 30 seconds.

What would have helped me in that moment?

A simple reply:

“These are the chapters that will be covered in the quiz: …”

That’s it.
Thirty seconds to write.
Hours of frustration avoided.

And it made me think…

How many times could clarity have saved us:

  • stress
  • frustration
  • resentment
  • misunderstandings
  • that quiet feeling of inadequacy

Think about your personal life.
Think about your professional life.

How often do we assume instead of clarify?
How often do we stay silent instead of asking?
How often are we unclear about what we actually want, and then wonder why others can’t support us?

Clarity is kindness.

So whatever position you find yourself in, as a partner, colleague, manager, or friend, please be clear and communicate.

It won’t just help you get better results.
It will help the other person too.
It gives them a fair chance.
It removes guessing.
It creates safety.

And if you’re on the receiving end?

Ask.
Clarify.
Confirm.

Be curious to know what's on the other side!

When it comes to your personal and professional goals, be even clearer.

You don’t even need to know the full end destination.
But you do need to know the next step.

Because clarity creates momentum.
And momentum reduces overwhelm.

This week’s reminder, for me too:

Say what you mean.
Ask what you need.
Clarify what matters.

It really can take less than a minute.

Talk next week,
Peggy 🌿

P.S. Where in your life right now could 30 seconds of clarity change everything?

View in browser Hi Reader, Last Sunday, we went sailing for the first time of the season. And let me tell you… It is not just about raising the sail and sitting back to enjoy. You don't just hop on a boat, point it where you want to go, and ride the breeze. (At least, not if you actually want to get somewhere 😅) You're constantly adjusting. Reading the wind. Trimming the sails. Tacking left, tacking right. Watching what's coming and shifting before it hits. Sailing, it turns out, is one long...

View in browser Hi Reader, Sometimes you just want to change the speed of time. You know exactly what I mean. You're watching a webinar, and you bump it up to 1.5x. Maybe you even push it to 2x, slap on the subtitles… and then realize you have no clue what's being said, so you slide it back down to 1.5x again 😅 I'm pretty sure people have done that to me when they're trying to digest what I share in my programs. And there I am on the other side, trying my best to speak slowly 🤪 Anyway… These...

View in browser Hi Reader, Last week we went to explore the west coast of Vancouver Island. And of course… we ended up at Mystic Beach. The sign at the start of the trail said: 2 km.No big deal, right? 😏 Well… let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a paved Sunday stroll. The trail was filled with tree roots, old wooden platforms, deep mud, and some pretty steep sections, both up and down. At one point, I felt like a kid again in PE class playing “the floor is lava.” Only this time… the floor was...
