Hi Reader, A short and sweet note this week, I’m off to Whistler for a week of skiing ❄️⛷️ But, I wanted to share this little story with you... Last week, while sitting in a waiting room (one of those unexpected pockets of time), I decided to make the most of it and catch up with a few friends. And then I noticed something. I was texting people in Belgium, South Africa, USA, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Australia and yes, in Canada as well 😅 My gosh! Because of travelling, I have visited more than 50 countries and lived on different continents; my friends have quietly turned into what I lovingly call my international framily (friends and family). There’s a quote that says, "When you travel, you leave a little piece of your heart in many places." I think the opposite is also true, you collect pieces of the world in yours. And life keeps proving that point. When we were in Belgium over Christmas, we met up with our old neighbours from South Africa… who happened to be touring Europe at the time. And where did we meet? In Holland 😅 It was just meant to be! And here’s a fun little add-on to that realization: I attended the Women in Nanaimo Awards event last week, and the table decorations were little globes. Of course, I managed to take one home 🌍 Now I’m staring at it thinking… maybe I should start adding tiny dots to all the places that hold pieces of my heart. And even if you’re reading this from somewhere completely different, you now know at least one person from Belgium who is living in Canada 😉 Chat next week, oh and on the ski trip? Friends from Switzerland, whom we originally met in South Africa, will be joining us 😅 Full circle moments everywhere. Wherever you are in the world reading this, thank you for being part of mine. View in browser Hi Reader, Three weeks ago, I started my MBA internship at the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce. (And no, before you ask, the electric bike still hasn't happened 😅) The office is about 7 km from home, so I figured… time to dust off the old bicycle. Pedal power straight from the legs. How hard could it be? Well… let me paint the picture. Out of 24 gears, I could only use about 1/3 of them. And in case you've never been here, Nanaimo is not flat. I needed every single one of...
View in browser Hi Reader, Last Sunday, we went sailing for the first time of the season. And let me tell you… It is not just about raising the sail and sitting back to enjoy. You don't just hop on a boat, point it where you want to go, and ride the breeze. (At least, not if you actually want to get somewhere 😅) You're constantly adjusting. Reading the wind. Trimming the sails. Tacking left, tacking right. Watching what's coming and shifting before it hits. Sailing, it turns out, is one long...
View in browser Hi Reader, Sometimes you just want to change the speed of time. You know exactly what I mean. You're watching a webinar, and you bump it up to 1.5x. Maybe you even push it to 2x, slap on the subtitles… and then realize you have no clue what's being said, so you slide it back down to 1.5x again 😅 I'm pretty sure people have done that to me when they're trying to digest what I share in my programs. And there I am on the other side, trying my best to speak slowly 🤪 Anyway… These...
