Hi Reader I just came back from a short 10-minute walk and that was just what I needed to start my day on the right foot. I've got a fully planned day ahead and I know that by the time I'll be back home I'll be tired. If I don't prioritize myself first thing it will just NOT happen and I would have prioritized everybody else's need above mine. We often think that we need hours on end to make a difference in our well-being, but the truth is that just 10 minutes can make all the difference. 💫 Whether it's taking a walk outside, practicing mindfulness, or doing something that brings you joy, those 10 minutes can set the tone for the rest of your day. 🌅 And yes, I know that some people still believe that prioritizing self-care is selfish. But, because I took that time for myself, I'll be able to show up for the various meetings I have today with a lot more energy and a positive mindset! I've been an advocate for embracing 10 minutes for such a long time. Small steps taken consistently will get you much further than going for a big leap and then throwing in the towel! By the way, did you know that every Thursday I post a short 1-minute video about personal development on my YouTube Channel? This week's topic is the power of 10 minutes 😊 So, let's make a promise to ourselves today to prioritize our well-being and take those 10 minutes every day. And if you need a little extra motivation, join me on the #60daystodiscover well-being challenge starting on June 1st! Together, we can unlock our full potential and create lasting change. 💪🏼 Read more about this unique well-being journey by clicking the link below 👇🏼

View in browser Hi ReaderBy now, you know walking is a big part of my life. It’s how my coaching journey started, by reconnecting with nature and, eventually, myself. Hence the name, a Backyard Hiker, if you didn't make that connection yet 😊 First, it was giraffes and acacia trees, and then walking alongside my coaching clients. A lot of magic happens when you move. This week, something happened that reminded me of the power of a walk. When walking on campus, I noticed a classmate a few...
View in browser Unlike many others, my coaching journey didn’t begin in a classroom. It began with dirt trails, sunrises, and unexpected clarity. Back in South Africa, I started going for a walk every single day. One day turned into two… which turned into a habit… which turned into a non-negotiable. Today marks Day 1888 of #walkingeverydamnday. And while those walks once included giraffes, zebras, and the occasional wildebeest (yep, really), these days, my wildlife encounters look a little...
View in browser Hi Reader How have you been? I'm about to embark on the second half of the second semester of my MBA, and I had a fantastic break! No, not a summer break, just a one-week break 😅 That summer is on hold as an MBA student at Vancouver Island University 😏 In the past few weeks, a topic that came up repeatedly was the need to start making connections! But you know what, as kids, we’re told not to talk to strangers. Don’t trust them. Don’t follow them. And definitely don’t tell...
