I'm sure you raised an eyebrow when you read the subject line of this week's Backyard Gossip 🤪 it's a bit of an insider story but a powerful one that I would like to share 🌿 So put on the kettle grab yourself a fresh brew and get comfy Reader 😊 I'm a quick decision-maker, a go-getter as many would call it. As soon as I got something in my mind, I (try to) make it happen. As if my life would depend on it and there is no time to waste! Over the years, however, I learned that it might not always be the best approach. "Think before you act!" is a sentence I heard a lot in my life. Especially in high school, I would often find myself in detention because of being impulsive 🫣 And to make matters worse, I would drag my - not so impulsive friends - with me. Because, honestly being in detention on your own is not fun 😆 It did teach me a valuable lesson, not everyone is a fast decision maker. Some people just need more time to let the idea seep in and let it brew for a bit before they make up their minds. While I'm a - one push of the button - Nespresso machine, they are percolators ⏳ And you know what, that's perfectly ok! One of my coaching clients is such a percolator. She had an idea in her mind of something she wanted to achieve but just needed some time to make it happen. By allowing herself that time, taking it slow and steady, she is now ready to put take action and share it with the world. I couldn't be much prouder as a coach! Instead of being intimidated by the fast decision-makers (believe me, that is never our intention) around her, and the fear of missing the boat, she kept true to herself. She made it happen just as she had it visualized 🎯 The moral of the story, whatever your pace is, as long as you move forward and keep your focus on your goal, you'll get there! And for old times sakes, I hope you don't mind me sharing the story of The Hare & The Tortoise 🐢

View in browser Hi Reader, Fall has definitely arrived on Vancouver Island, and I’m loving the autumn colours. Last weekend, the weather was stunning; we even enjoyed sitting outside, and then, almost overnight, the temperatures dropped. I’m actually enjoying the change of seasons, though. 🍂 In today’s Backyard Gossip, I wanted to take you back to the theme of simplicity. Because sometimes, the simplest things make the most significant impact. On one of my weekly jogs, I passed a couple out...
View in browser Hi Reader, After last week’s email, some of you shared such thoughtful comments. One person compared repeating what works to putting your favorite song on repeat - you always hear something new, but the melody stays the same. 🎵 Someone else shared how they start with 15 minutes instead of 30 when building a walking habit, making it more manageable. And one reminded me that, yes, sometimes we love to complicate things with drama. (Guilty as charged 🤣). It made me realize...
View in browser Hi Reader, The other day, I picked up a copy of one of my favourite magazines, Breathe magazine. My neighbour found out that I love reading it and handed me an old copy she still had lying around. And I noticed something that shocked me at first. They had published the exact same article about building new habits in both issues. Word for word. Same tips, same examples. The only difference? The two issues were five years apart. At first, I thought: How could this beautifully...
