How a fresh coat of paint re-ignited my thinking ๐ŸŽจ

We had the outside of our house re-painted and that inspired me to dust of some of my own resources!

Having the outside painted was already long on our to-do list. But NOT on our priority list. In case you don't know it yet, there is a distinguishable difference between those two lists ๐Ÿคช But, we finally made it happen. Or at least, we had a team of talented painters who made it happen for us. Yes, painting is NOT one of my talents ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ

It took them two weeks to get the job done, and you know what, when you start tackling one thing others show up as well ๐Ÿซฃ While we are at it, we might as well change some old outdoor plugs and some lights. Oh and maybe the garage door could use a new coat as well ๐Ÿ˜‚

All those changes equal electricians and painters coming in and out, everything is a mess and at one point, you question the decision to get it done ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

But seeing the result, the whole adventure was worthwhile, just that fresh coat of paint made a world of difference! It almost feels like we got a new house ๐Ÿ

That inspired me to tackle some of my coaching resources that were lying around, to dust them off, review them, and put them out in the world again! That idea was on my to-do list but not on the priority list ๐Ÿ˜…

Because, let's be honest, what use are my resources to you if they are properly stored on my hard drive ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

The first resource I tackled was my Guide to Intentional Living to help you identify things that could hold you back from living your life with true freedom and purpose!

I'm going to be honest though, as soon as I started working on the guide, I had to refresh the e-mail automation and make sure that all links were updated to the new version, and pictures were updated,... and YES, at one point I questioned my decision ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ There was a very messy middle, but as with the paint job, I'm happy I persisted ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Walking together is magical

View in browser Hi ReaderBy now, you know walking is a big part of my life. Itโ€™s how my coaching journey started, by reconnecting with nature and, eventually, myself. Hence the name, a Backyard Hiker, if you didn't make that connection yet ๐Ÿ˜Š First, it was giraffes and acacia trees, and then walking alongside my coaching clients. A lot of magic happens when you move. This week, something happened that reminded me of the power of a walk. When walking on campus, I noticed a classmate a few...

View in browser Unlike many others, my coaching journey didnโ€™t begin in a classroom. It began with dirt trails, sunrises, and unexpected clarity. Back in South Africa, I started going for a walk every single day. One day turned into twoโ€ฆ which turned into a habitโ€ฆ which turned into a non-negotiable. Today marks Day 1888 of #walkingeverydamnday. And while those walks once included giraffes, zebras, and the occasional wildebeest (yep, really), these days, my wildlife encounters look a little...

View in browser Hi Reader How have you been? I'm about to embark on the second half of the second semester of my MBA, and I had a fantastic break! No, not a summer break, just a one-week break ๐Ÿ˜… That summer is on hold as an MBA student at Vancouver Island University ๐Ÿ˜ In the past few weeks, a topic that came up repeatedly was the need to start making connections! But you know what, as kids, weโ€™re told not to talk to strangers. Donโ€™t trust them. Donโ€™t follow them. And definitely donโ€™t tell...
